It Snowed

Snowman

It snowed yesterday.  The snow was heavy and wet.  It was perfect for making snow people.

I found this snowman near the park.  I really like his carrot nose and colorful hat.

Bottle Tree Garden

Bottle Tree Garden

Last weekend, I discovered a bottle tree garden.  The garden had about twenty blue bottles placed on sticks.

I am not familiar with this type of a garden.  I have been told that the bottles are placed on sticks to protect against evil spirits.

Notice that these bottles are close to the ground.  Normally, the snow would be high enough to completely cover these bottles.   This winter, however, has not been normal and there is little snow to be found.

Sunday Post – Love

Wild Daisies

I love flowers that grow wild in the fields.

I love the daisies because they remind me of childhood fun.  We used to collect the flowers and bring them home and put them in a vase.  We used to tie the daisies together into a long chain to make a necklace.

We used to count each white petal on the flower and at the same time we would say “loves me” and “loves me not”.   The last petal would tell if true love was going to happen in the future.

We were so happy when the flower predicted Love.

I Like to Visit …

I like to visit historic buildings. I like to visit places where the old and the new elements are mixed together.

This building in Superior, Wisconsin, for example, was built in 1890.

Building Cornerstone

It doesn’t take much detective work to figure out the original purpose of the building.  Just one look above the entrance doors tells me that the police department and the city government shared this building.

Entrance to the Chief of Police

Entrance to City Hall

Modern signs tell me what I can find in the building today.

Coffee Shop

Bakery

The building also houses an art gallery, a clothing boutique, a pottery shop, and office space.  Free WiFi travels through the old sandstone blocks.

Yesterday and today blend together in historic buildings.  That’s why I like to visit them.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Hope

Hosta

Hope is seen in the spring when the garden plants start to grow.

Here is a photo of a hosta in my garden last year.
